This years' AAFF runs March 22-27, 2022. All internships will run through April 2022.

Our interns are never just getting coffee and filing papers. Our interns work hand-in-hand with our rock star team to communicate with designers, filmmakers, volunteers, vendors, sponsors, community partners, board members, and our audience to make bold and beautiful ideas come to life.

Through our internship program, our 2021-2022 interns will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience with both the production work that goes into creating a multi-day, international, and highly acclaimed annual film festival AND with high-level exposure to the ongoing strategic planning and management of a 501c3 non-profit.


Responsibilities include program research and coordination of film and filmmaker information for the 60th Ann Arbor Film Festival. The intern will work closely with the Festival Director to offer general administrative support. The Program Assistant’s first responsibility will be the review of festival film submissions as a member of the AAFF screening cadre, and assisting with screening salons. You will also help to support the monthly screening series presented at the State Theatre in downtown Ann Arbor and will support the Festival Director with the coordination of our “Off the Screen” programming. Other assignments may be given depending on candidate interest and organizational need.


Responsibilities will include the preparation of movie files for online screening and juror hard drives. creating playlists for online festival screening, Prepare hard drives for mailing to jurors, Provide post-Festival feedback, Prep Sponsor and Program slides, Assist with Festival streaming (if needed). The intern will work closely with the film festival’s Tech director and Operations Manager. The intern will also have the opportunity to act as a member of the screening cadre for film submissions for the festival. Other assignments may be given depending on candidate interest and organizational need.
